Markets in that area seem to come and go, but if I can help spread the word maybe that will help.

Farms that accept volunteers is a good question. Some do, I believe, but there is nothing organized. Do you speak Japanese? How much longer are you here? Where are you located in Tokyo? Actually, why don't you just email me? My contact info is on my About page. I'll see what I can do!Joan Lambert Baileyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03115423496781398997[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-22136426463701942422019-05-26T19:30:05.028+09:002019-05-26T19:30:05.028+09:00Thank you for this post! I am planning to visit Kamakura, and it's nice to know there's a market there everyday.

I happened upon your blog because I was looking for weekday farmer's markets in Tokyo. According to TokyoCheapo, there's a market on Wednesdays near Daikanyama station, which I noticed you didn't have in this post. Not sure if that information is up to date, since I noticed it was published in 2016.

Also, this is a random question, but do you happen to know any places that accept volunteers at farms or gardens in or near Tokyo? I am just visiting a friend for a few months (3) and am really missing this kind of work. (I have about 3 years experience working at farms). No worries if you have no answer to this question, just thought I'd ask!Anonymous[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-10496724539130616182019-04-19T15:03:33.243+09:002019-04-19T15:03:33.243+09:00That's wonderful! I wouldn't be surprised, though, if they also turned up at this one. The Kamakura farmers are pretty innovative and curious. They are always doing something exciting.Joan Lambert Baileyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03115423496781398997[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-4514174472093927482018-01-14T11:32:05.069+09:002018-01-14T11:32:05.069+09:00Do they sell swedes (aka rutabagas or swedish turn...Do they sell swedes (aka rutabagas or swedish turnips)
Anonymous[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-2447453479632446222014-08-02T16:25:51.801+09:002014-08-02T16:25:51.801+09:00One of my favorites, too. Can we really make the longish trip from Tokyo just to find them closed for some reason (outside of national holidays)?

Otherwise, it is a real jewel. I toss Y300 to keep a locker just outside the station, go to the ichiba and usually buy a crazy huge amount of great food/bread, haul it back to the locker, and keep it there while running Kamakura. End of the day, I retrieve everything from the locker and haul it home to Tokyo. This method works well. Get the locker first as sometimes they can all be reserved by the mobs of tourists.Patricia[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-71584775277544950802014-01-14T16:21:54.144+09:002014-01-14T16:21:54.144+09:00Oh, excellent question! I am really not sure, although I would guess that the market would be closed beginning a day or so before the New Year holiday, and possibly remain closed until about a week later. Most of the Tokyo markets did that and our local farmstands did, too.
