I am smiling reading this one - many years ago I invited my office mate and his wife-to-be over for dinner. I grew up in Hawaii where spam musubi and teriyaki spam are local favorites...and thought I'd share spam with them. He, from Illinois, was offended. She, from Malaysia, thought it was tasty. I had no idea that anyone would be offended by spam. It was also a surprise that the can of spam then was not 'cheap'. I remember it cost more than it would to buy a pound of 'fresh' ground beef on sale.....and still does. When I think about the why...? In the tropics, there wasn't the land to support red meat...which meant we usually couldn't afford red meat that wasn't in a can. I still have a love for fried up corned beef hash out of can on toast with melted cheese on top....with ketchup of course. :-)Faye[email protected]
