You could also look at some of the websites of the farmers markets I list here and go to each farm's site. Summer is hot and humid, but once you get up to the huts it is a million times cooler. Winter tends to see the huts close, but those that remain open are cozy spots for those that brave snowy trails. Spring is also quite nice, but the weather can be somewhat unpredictable and still cool, so be prepared for rain, snow, and cold. They are fun and tasty adventures.

I'm a big fan of the Earth Day Market in Yoyogi Park as the hands-down best place for seasonal fruit and veg that is reasonably priced. The UNU Market is also good, but the Earth Day Market is all organic and has the best atmosphere, I think. Although, each one has its own unique characteristics.

Good luck and have fun!Joan Lambert Baileyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03115423496781398997[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-4717491077967798002016-09-17T00:26:23.627-04:002016-09-17T00:26:23.627-04:00Thank you so much for providing this information! ...Thank you so much for providing this information! I've just moved to Tokyo from Australia and really miss the high quality fruit and veg that I used to buy at the local markets in my hometown - I find the quality of supermarket fresh groceries to be noticeably lower than back home. Is there a particular market that you'd recommend for reliably high quality (yet not too pricey!) fresh fruit and veg? Thanks again :)Elizahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11074465094004410418[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-77548763988703344912016-09-05T15:43:54.431-04:002016-09-05T15:43:54.431-04:00Hi Joan...looks great..would love to do a walking ...Hi Joan...looks great..would love to do a walking foosy tour of Japan...is there a best time of year to come? I have also seen it at Yokohama's Kitanaka Marche. An organic farmer there carries it, and it is scrumptious. Some supermarkets also have it, but I've never shopped for it there. Some of them seem reasonable, but mostly only in the context of industrialized monoculture farming. The more and more I read, the more and more I see how happy the plants are with mulch, how rich the soil is underneath and how delicious the vegetables are, I give bare soil less credibility.Joan Lambert Baileyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03115423496781398997[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6670240581789114113.post-5304479976652319372015-12-08T05:30:59.156-05:002015-12-08T05:30:59.156-05:00"For the record, I don't believe in bare ..."For the record, I don't believe in bare soil."

Believe me. Here is their website: our local website: http://www.tumbleweed-japan.com/

It is all in Japanese, but if you contact them directly you'll be in business. James is also quite knowledgeable and will help you get things rolling.
