Japan Farmers Markets

Shoppers of all ages visit UpMarket in Osaka for Guruli Farm's organic veg. Spring is, I have to say, more than in the air. Flowers are blooming and temperatures rising. Seeds are sprouting, and already some winter vegetables are ceding the stage to spring and summer counterparts. Look for some seasonal vendors to mention that this may be their last weekend at the market or that it is the last weekend for a particular treat. Don't lament, though! That's part of the pleasure of eating what farmers have in their fields. It's seasonal, fresh, and some of the best. See you at the market! A beautiful display of organic veg at Osaka's Up Market. A cold snap or two is letting those sakura (cherry) blossoms linger a bit longer this year and keeping us bundled up at the markets. Sunshine is in the forecast for the weekend, so don't miss your chance to head out and taste some of the best the season has to offer.
